POHRC organizes and participates in projects relating to the work of ankoku butoh founder, Hijikata Tatsumi, with the aim of promoting international discussion and exchange.

Intensive Workshops & Events Inspired by Hijikata Tatsumi 2014

Discovering Perspectives on Hijikata: join us for this three-week exploration of the Hijikata butoh method with masters Natsu Nakajima, Saga Kobayashi, and Kanazawa Butoh Kan. In these workshops we will journey through the world of Hijikata's ankoku butoh, searching for new ways of seeing, moving, and being. We will pose rather than answer questions about the nature of butoh, guiding participants towards a discovery of their own understanding and integration of the Hijikata method.
